After her successful visit with You co-star Penn Badley in Manila to promote their Netflix thriller series, Filipina-Canadian Shay Mitchell is seen exploring the islands of El Nido, Palawan after her work trip.

The 31-year-old actress posts a photo on her Instagram page at the Pangulasian Island Resort, captioned, “Couldn’t go to the Philippines without visiting the islands… so I did.” She then shares a video of Lagen Island Resort calling it “paradise.”

The Hollywood star and her team were welcomed by the hotel staff upon their arrival, with Shay calling it “the warmest welcome” then sharing a view from her villa, which she describes as “the definition of heaven.” When discovering the view from her accommodation, Shay is heard in her Instagram stories reacting, “Oh my goodness, this is crazy! Wow!” then laughing, “I ate so much more here because I always wanted to sit and look at the view” when later reminiscing on her trip. At the end of her first vacation day, Shay shares with her followers a photo of the sunset captioned, “Perfect way to end the day.”

Shay’s mother is full-Filipina, and she shares in interviews that she has been in the country twice prior to this trip. Shay made a name for herself during her portrayal as Emily Fields in drama series “Pretty Little Liars.” Most recently, she has been making headlines for her character Peach in Netflix hit “You.” When referring to her character Peach, Shay shared with the Inquirer, “I love that she was different from any character that I played before and you know it’s fun to play the bad girl sometimes and she just had a lot of great lines. The writing was superb and she was fun. And she was wearing heels. I enjoyed being out of runners for a minute.”
