Athletes Denden Lazaro, LA Revilla announce engagement
After almost five years of being together, former Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) Lady Eagle Denden Lazaro and former De La Salle University (DLSU) Green Archer LA Revilla are officially engaged.
Lazaro, who is currently a libero for the Petron Blaze Spikers in the Philippine SuperLiga (PSL), announced the news on her Instagram page last Sunday, January 20 in a photo with the current Phoenix Fuel Masters player flashing her diamond captioned, “Small things can make the biggest impact.” She adds, “I love you” tagging the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) player.
Family, friends, and volleyball fans nationwide congratulated the couple.
The couple’s union first attracted the hearts of numerous sports fans as they represented the rare union of the Ateneo-La Salle rivalry.
The point guard, now on his sixth year in the pro league, sparked the interest of many as he tweeted back in 2014, “Today, I’m gonna do something I have never done in my life! Ask a girl to be my girlfriend!” soon after following the status up saying, “And she said YES!”
A year later, Revilla revealed to ABS-CBN Sports that what he liked about Lazaro was that, “she’s selfless,” saying, “I like her sincerity and her genuineness. When she says she’s gonna do it, she’s gonna do it. She’s very committed!”
On the other hand, Lazaro revealed that Revilla was “very humble despite his success,” stating, “He’s very hardworking and I’d say lovable.” Lazaro also recently revealed their dreams together; one is “making it to the national team.”
The 26-year-old shared, “If me and LA make it to the national team? I think it’s gonna be something special.”
“Playing for the country is something every player has been dreaming of. It’s a serious commitment,” Revilla adds.
Details about the wedding have yet to be announced while the two focus on their professional careers. Revilla, originally from Bacolod, has just started his third season with the Fuel Masters in the PBA, while Lazaro is getting ready for the PSL Grand Prix 2019.
