Eleazar said Jason Tabag, political officer of the lawmaker, brought the two firearms – an HPRFL Colt 5.56 with four magazines and ammunition, and a Bersa pistol with two magazines — to the San Juan Police Station around 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Senior Insp. Edwin Malabanan received the firearms for safekeeping.

The turnover of the firearms of Garin and his father, Guimbal Mayor Oscar Garin Sr., came after Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Oscar Albayalde ordered the cancellation of all their gun permits and licenses.

The two officials allegedly mauled a police officer last December 26.

The PNP chief also ordered the pullout of all police security escorts of the Garins.

Last Dec. 28, the Garins have surrendered 14 out of their 19 firearms to the Guimbal Municipal Police Station.
