F2 Logistics forces do-or-die match for PSL Finals after win against Petron
Looks like there will be Game 3 in the best-of-three finals of the 2018 Philippine Super Liga (PSL) All-Filipino Conference (AFC) as F2 Logistics reigned victorious against Petron in a four-set game last Tuesday, December 18.
The set scores ended at 21-25, 25-19, 25-20, and 25-17 as The Cargo Movers were led by Ara Galang, Major Baron, and Cha Cruz-Behag. Galang alone scored 20 points, while Baron and Cruz Behag contributed 14 and 13 respectively. Mich Morente also contributed double digits at 10 points. Libero Dawn Macandili had a commendable performance as well with 33 digs and 16 excellent receptions.
As for their opponents, Petron Team captain Ces Molina finished with 17 points for her team, while Aiza Maizo-Pontillas and Bernadeth Pons contributed 11 and 10 points respectively.
According to F2 Logistics coach Ramil de Jesus, “After Game One, [he] told [his players] during training that the loss is done,” saying in Filipino, “That doesn’t matter anymore, so if you want to redeem yourselves, let’s redeem ourselves. I set that and it worked in Game Two.”
He added, “I told them that if I didn’t know them, I would believe that [Game 1] is all you could give. At practice, we only corrected a bit, like blocking.” De Jesus even shared that the team’s motivation was the abundant live audience that was present at the Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena, who braved the holiday traffic just to see them play. “Well of course, the kids were very emotional,” he shared, “I told them that everyone wearing yellow here, those are the people counting on you and supporting you. So, let’s not have an embarrassing performance.”
With their win, F2 Logistics interrupted the Blaze Spikers 13-0 undefeated run. The two teams will have their final shot at the PSL AFC championship title during Game 3, which is happening on Thursday, December 20 at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
