Janno Gibbs not included in Kapamilya’s Christmas station ID
Every Christmas season, one of the many things that Kapamilya viewers await is the annual Christmas station ID of the broadcast network, ABS-CBN Corporation, that features today’s big artists in the entertainment industry, from child stars to actors and actresses, to popular couples, also to recording artists.
With a theme of “Family is Love,” of course, the video will not be complete without the heartfelt stories of some Filipinos all over the country, along with people they considered as family.
While this seemed to be a complete package, with a lot of people involved, the audience may not have noticed that something is actually missing.
In his Instagram post, singer-songwriter Janno Gibbs earned the attention of many netizens, making his social media followers realize that he was not part of the much-awaited Christmas station ID.
Sharing a photo of him where he inked a contract with ABS-CBN’s music label, Janno wrote, “Throwback to Sept 12 this year when I signed with @starmusicph Naalala ko lang. Sila yata ‘di ako naalala eh (I just remembered. Maybe they did not remember me),” adding the hashtags “#wagnyokohanapinsastationid (Do not look for me in the station ID)“ and “#lakipanglogosalikod (The logo is big at the back)“
This post was already deleted, but some media outlets were able to take a screenshot of it, including some comments of the netizens.
Curious about his non-appearance in the video, one social media user @0114_cm told Janno, “Ay oo nga bakit wala ka? Anu explanation nila??? Grabe naman unfair (Why are you not included? What was their explanation? It is unfair).”
The 49-year-old singer then responded, “‘Di kasi ako network contract. Pero alam ko ‘pag recording artist automatic kasali sa Station id (I’m not bound by a network contract. But as far as I know, once you are a recording artist, you are automatically included in the station ID).”
Netizen @frank2971, meanwhile, urged Janno to go back from his previous network, GMA Network, to which the artist replied, “Pwede pa rin naman ako 7 eh. Pero wala sila binibigay na work (I can still be with channel 7. But they do not give me work).”
While many of his fans expressed support and sympathy to him, others criticized Janno for posting his apparent disappointment to his current network.
Instagram user @jamrn90 wrote, “If I’m in your position you better delete this post, it won’t do anything good for you… It looks like you are ranting, wants to get an attention, begging and bitter. Hope you don’t mind my opinion.”
Janno, however, explained that he was not ranting when he made the post as he was just merely “conveying” his feelings.
“Dinaan ko pa nga sa (I even expressed it as a) joke. If it were a rant… serious yung caption (the caption should be serious). I’m not looking for pity. I just want to explain because people ask me what’s my project.”
Social media user @ferarie17 supported netizen @jamrn90’s comment, saying that if the network did not give him a job, the celebrity should just “accept it with all your heart.”
“I’m sorry but right now you look like a kid who’s throwing a tantrum. Always learn to wait for your turn and be mature and professional enough.
I’m sorry, I feel you but still, you have to take it as it is. Be different from other artists out there who will just shout out anything on social media,” the netizen said.
But for Janno, since “showbiz can be rude,” sometimes one has to fight back especially if he or she has a point.
“I am normally a patient and nice person I’d like to believe. Let me be clear… I don’t mind waiting for work. Pinag-uusapan natin dito (What we are talking here) is that I signed up with Star Music and I think that entitled me to their station ID as one of their singers,” he replied.
It was in September this year when Janno signed a contract under Star Music after he took a brief hiatus from showbiz.
The singer-songwriter was known for his notable songs like Fallin’, Binibini, Pinakamagandang Lalaki, Sana Dalawa Ang Puso Ko, among others.
As of writing, the Kapamilya network has not issued any statement regarding the matter.
