Actress Janella Salvador finally speaks out about physical violence related to the controversial photos of the star with bruises on her arms and legs, claiming that they’re caused by her rumored ex-boyfriend and on-screen partner Elmo Magalona.

In an exclusive with The Philippine Star, Janella told entertainment columnist Ricky Lo that she was always mistreated when Elmo engaged in “social drinking.” “It was not the first time that he hurt me,” reported Janella in reference to Elmo’s reaction to an argument the couple had gotten into after attending a party, “The first time happened months earlier. He claimed that he didn’t remember what he did, maybe because he had a drink, and he asked for forgiveness and I gave him a chance. I told him, ‘Next time, don’t bring yourself to the point that you will hurt someone.’ He promised he wouldn’t do it again.”

Janella has stopped seeing her psychiatrist during that time but resumed after the incident had happened. She also shared that Elmo is “seeking professional help as well,” adding, “I support him on that. It’s good that he recognized the problem and he’s addressing it.”

The twenty-year-old Cebuana celebrity then tells the newspaper that her “purpose in speaking now is not to shame [Elmo] or put him down,” she said, “I just want to correct the lies being spread against me and my mom and to let the truth out. I thought long and hard before I decided to speak out.”

Janella and her mother, Jenine Desiderio, have also been in the headlines the past few months for being in a feud, which she says that now she focusing on herself and removing Elmo from her life has helped her improve their mother-daughter relationship. Janella assures, “We are fixing things. We are talking. I may not agree with the extreme way she expresses her feelings, but I realized her intentions are good. At the end of the day, I now know that my mom is there for me.”
