“Asia’s Songbird,” Regine Velasquez said farewell to her Kapuso family as she made the transition from being a GMA-7 artist for the past 20 years to an ABS-CBN Kapamilya.

She initially announced her departure on the anniversary episode of Sarap Diva, the cooking show that she launched six years ago, and among one of her projects for the network in the last 20 years.

In her words, “I have stayed here for two decades. A huge thank you for the trust that you gave me and for taking good care of me.”

GMA-7 Senior Vice President to Entertainment Lilybeth Rasonable also spoke to Pep.PH about Regine’s move stating in support, “After two decades, Regine Velasquez-Alcasid has officially said her goodbyes to the Kapuso Network. We understand her decision to join her husband and we wish her well as she pursues other opportunities outside GMA Network.”

Regine’s first stint for ABS-CBN is ASAP Live in Sydney, where she’ll be performing alongside her husband Ogie Alcasid on October 20. The event’s social media shared, “This marks the first time that the best-selling OPM artist of all time will be part of an ASAP live event overseas,” captioning the photo of their press release with “Mga Kapamilya! More stars are joining #ASAPLiveinSydney.”

Prior to her involvement with ABS-CBN, Regine was accompanied by now-Kapamilya stars, her husband Ogie Alcasid, singer Jaya, and songwriter Janno Gibs on GMA-7 variety show “SOP,” which was ASAP’s rival for 13 years until it ended in 2010. She’s also known for as the host of talent show “The Clash.”

Regine’s friends from ABS-CBN have already welcomed her into the network, star Sharon Cuneta posting a photo on Instagram captioned, “My Songbird and I now live in the same house! Welcome, my Regine.” Angeline Quinto also commented on one of Regine’s posts in Filipino stating, “Good morning to our queen. I love you idol.” Kim Chiu, KZ Tandigan and Carla Angeline are among the other Kapamilya stars who shared their love to the actress, host, and singer.
