President Rodrigo Duterte also has a wish for a priest who jokingly wished him to get sick — that is for him to die from a sexually transmitted disease.

“Itong pari, to wish ill, saan ka nakakita ng pari na [mag-wish] ‘Mamatay sana si Duterte’? Sabihin ko na lang din, ‘mamatay sana kayong lahat ng venereal disease (This priest, to wish ill, where have you seen a priest who wishes ‘Duterte must die?’ Then I should just say instead, ‘I hope you all die from venereal disease),’” Duterte told reporters at Davo City on Saturday, September 8.

The President was referring to Father Noel Gatchalian who earlier jested during his homily that he prayed for Duterte to be sick. Father Gatchalian celebrated the mass for Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, whose amnesty was revoked by Duterte.

“Noon pong marami nang kaguluhan ang nangyayari, na winawalanghiya pati ang ating relihiyon, binabastos pati ang ating Diyos, sinasabi ng ating Simbahan na magdasal. Sabi ko o sige magdasal, kaya pinagdasal ko na magkasakit si Digong [Duterte] (During the time where there was a lot of chaos, and even our religion and God were disrespected, the Church said we should pray. Then I said, ‘okay I will pray’ that’s why I prayed that Duterte will be sick),” the priest said.

“’Di ba sabi niya pagod na siya? Eh ‘di magpahinga muna siya (He said he is tired, right? He should just take a rest first),” he added.

Reacting to this, Duterte said Father Gatchalian should not worry if he dies whether today or tomorrow as it “does not matter” to him anymore.

“Ikaw kulang ka pa sa happy, dagdagan mo ‘yang mga girlfriends mo diyan (You still lack happiness, you should have more girlfriends there),” Duterte said.

The Chief Executive went on and branded priesthood as the “most hypocritical institution” in the country today.

“T*** i** niyo akala niyo hindi namin alam (Son of a b****, you think we do not know)?” he said.

“May orphanage kayo, existing now where ‘yung mga anak ninyo na sikreto diyan nilalagay (You have an orphanage now where you keep your secret children),” he continued.

Special Assistant to the President (SAP) Christopher “Bong” Go earlier said he hopes that God would forgive Father Gatchalian for cracking jokes regarding the health of the President.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque Jr. also lashed out at the priest, urging him to just leave the priesthood.
