JBC sets interview for CA justice bets next month

MANILA — The Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) is set to conduct interviews next month for applicants vying for the position of Associate Justice in the Court of Appeals (CA).

The JBC announced that they have set the dates Sept. 4 and 5 for the interview of 15 contenders for the position vacated by CA Associate Justice Socorro Inting.

Those who will be interviewed on Sept. 4 are Alfredo Ampuan, Emerson Aquende, Emily San Gaspar-Gito, Aida Santos, Racquelen Abary-Vasquez, Lorenza Bordios, Maria Amifaith Fider-Reyes, and Raymond Reynold Lauigan.

While, those who will be interviewed on Sept. 5 are Emma Matammu, Rosalyn Mislos-Loja, Acerey Pacheco, Loida Posadas-Kahulugan, Rosanna Fe Romero-Maglaya, Dax Xenos, and Encarnacio Jaja Moya.

The JBC also encouraged the public to immediately report to them any complaint against any of the candidates.

“The public may submit to the JBC a sworn complaint, report, or opposition against any of the aforesaid candidates either through personal delivery or mail addressed to the JBC Mezzanine, Centennial Building, Supreme Court, Padre Faura St., Manila, thru telefax no. 02-552-9607 or by email at jbc@sc.judiciary.gov.ph and jbc87supremecourt@gmail.com.

Aside from the 15 candidates who would undergo public interview, there were 15 other candidates for the said position whose previous interviews remain valid.

They are Ma. Theresa Aban-Camannong, Joeffre Acebido, Selma Alaras, Rowena Apao-Adlawan, Lily Biton, Irin Zenaida Buan, Carlito Calpatura, Danilo Cruz, Rowena De Juan-Quinagoran, Madonna Echiverri, Florencio Mamauag Jr., Mia Joy Oallares-Cawed, Vilma Pauig, Angelene Mary Quimpo-Sale, and Esteban Tacla Jr.

In April, President Rodrigo Duterte appointed Inting as Commissioner of the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

Inting replaced former Comelec Commissioner Arthur Lim who retired in February. She will serve the poll body until Feb.

Prior to her appointment to the appeals court in 2009, Inting was a presiding judge at the Manila City Regional Trial Court for nine years, and the Makati City Metropolitan Trial Court for almost three years.
