MANILA — The WFL (Weekend Futbol League) Elite League made a “surprising” start on Thursday night.

Despite of what turned out to be a scheduled shakeup, Green Archers United (GAU) wasted no time in giving Adamson a rude welcome to the league.

GAU blasted Adamson, 6-0, on opening night at the De La Salle Zobel Football Field in Muntinlupa.

Jimuel Ariola’s hat trick led the way for the former UFL(United Football League) side as the club, the favorite to win it all as the erstwhile champ, Kaya Iloilo Elite, opted to beg off this year, opened its campaign with a bang.

After his opening goal in the 22nd minute, Ariola quickly made it 3-0 following two more goals in the 37th and the 40th minutes.

GAU’s other players then put the icing on the cake in the second half.

Okono scored the club’s fourth goal in the 48th minute, Chieffy Caligdong added another in the 78th minute, and Garcia scored the final goal of the night in stoppage time.

Action continues on Saturday at 12 p.m. at the Biñan Football Stadium in Biñan City, Laguna as Stallion Laguna B hosts Navy, and on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the ASCOM Football Field in Taguig, Army takes on Ateneo.
