Brownlee wins Best Import for Commissioner’s Cup

MANILA — For two straight seasons, Justin Brownlee has always ended up as runner-up to Allen Durham for the Best Import of the Conference in the PBA Governors’ Cup.

On Friday night, the Ginebra import finally got one, although in the other import-spiced conference.
Brownlee won the Best Import for the Commissioner’s Cup as announced at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

The Barangay’s resident foreign reinforcement for the season-ending Governors’ Cup edged his bigger opponents, including fellow Alab Pilipinas world import Renaldo Balkman for the mid-season tournament’s best import plum.

Brownlee got 1,209 points, 539 statistical points, 445 media points off 33 first place votes, 75 player points off 12 first place votes, and 150 points from the PBA Commissioner’s Office, to rule the contest.

Balkman is a far second with 858 points off 504 SP’s, 261 media points, 68 player points, and 25 points from the Commissioner’s Office.

Reggie Johnson, who was actually second in the votes from the Commissioner’s Office for 75 points, is third overall after being fourth in stats (473 SP’s) and third in the media votes (76 points) and the player votes (26) for a total of 650 points.

Diamon Simpson is fourth with 491 points.
