MANILA — Vice President Leni Robredo urged authorities and the police to intensify investigation into the recent spate of killings of local government officials, priests, and ordinary citizens.

(I [emphatically] call on the authorities especially the police…to enact quick measures to stop these seemingly succession of killings),” Robredo said in a statement.

Robredo made the appeal following the killings of Tanauan Mayor Antonio Halili, Nueva Ecija town Mayor Ferdinand Bote, and the murder of three priests in the past six months.

Robredo stressed that like every Filipino in the country, she is hoping for a violence-free nation and justice for the victims of the killings.
