MANILA — Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go called for unity among Muslim Filipinos as they celebrated Eid’l Fitr or the end of the 30-day period of ritual fasting, prayer and alms-giving on Friday.

In his message, President Rodrigo Duterte’s most trusted aide expressed happiness that the country’s Muslim community observed a peaceful period of Ramadan.

“I am happy with the peaceful period of ritual fasting of our Muslim brothers in the month of Ramadan,” he said in Filipino.

“Alongside the Duterte administration’s officials, we are one with the celebration of our Muslim brothers in celebrating the end of the holy month of Ramadan,” he added.

The presidential top aide also rallied support among the Muslim community to continue supporting the Duterte administration’s plans in pushing for a peaceful Mindanao.

“You are all close to my heart and to President Duterte’s, especially those who rally for peace in the Mindanao region,” he said.

“I hope our Muslim brothers continue supporting President Duterte especially his goal to attain long-lasting peace in Mindanao and the whole nation,” he added.
