MANILA — The Philippine embassy in Washington capped the Philippine National Heritage Month by showcasing the country’s culture in top destinations in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

The embassy conducted the promotion in line with the Asian Pacific American Heritage Month at an event organized by the Congressional Asian Pacific American Staff Association (CAPASA) on May 30.

The Philippine embassy booth shared cultural and heritage information about the country’s top tourist destinations in Cagayan Valley, Ilocos, Manila and Mindoro for Luzon; in Bohol, Cebu, Iloilo and Palawan for Visayas; and Davao for Mindanao.

The inaugural showcase also featured the embassies of Bangladesh, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, and Thailand, the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in the US, and the US-Asia Institute.

In a statement, Philippine Ambassador to the US Jose Manuel Romualdez thanked CAPASA for the opportunity to connect with Congressional staffers who are also members of the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community.

“There is no denying that embracing diversity adds value, and events like this go a long way in building synergies among diverse players in public and foreign policy,” he said.

“A conversation about cultural heritage inevitably leads to greater mutual understanding and a better appreciation of what a nation has to offer to the rest of the world. By holding the embassy showcase, CAPASA has contributed much to that conversation,” he added.

CAPASA is a non-partisan, non-profit congressional staff organization dedicated to advancing professional development and building social networks among its members, and serving the AAPI community on Capitol Hill and beyond.
