Ricci Rivero commits to UP
MANILA — A few months after falling out with La Salle, high-flying Ricci Rivero found his new home.
Rivero said on Friday night that he will commit to the University of the Philippines (UP) for the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 82.
“When you’re down, there’s nowhere to go but UP! Diliman, here I come!” Rivero said via Twitter with the word “up” being capitalized as a way of emphasizing UP.
Rivero left the Green Archers a few months after they lost to the Ateneo Blue Eagles in last year’s UAAP men’s basketball finals.
Recent developments were leaning to Rivero joining his former coach Aldin Ayo at the University of Santo Tomas, but his tweet means he will join a UP lineup that will have combo guard Juan Gomez de Liano and big man Bright Akhuetie leading the way.
Rivero will sit out Season 81 due to the redshirting rule.
