Duterte says next Ombudsman cannot be a woman

Published

on

President Rodrigo Duterte said he would go for a person whose integrity is admired by the people to be the next Ombudsman and this definitely wouldn’t be a woman.

The Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) is in search for the next Ombudsman as the seat will be vacated later this July after the end of term of Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales.

With this, Duterte said the JBL may run the nomination but it will be him who will choose, to make sure the position will be taken by someone with integrity.

“They will nominate but I will choose — I want someone whose integrity is admired by the people, Of course, it could not be a politician, especially not a woman,” the President said during a chance interview with reporters in Malacañang.

He also said that he will consult the public and those inside the agency so that the person who will replace Morales is well-accepted.

“I’ll have to consult everybody.

I will even have to consult the Ombudsman people, not Morales, and others, to make sure that the person is the choice of the people,” Duterte said.
