BI orders Aussie nun to leave PH
The Bureau of Immigration (BI) revoked the missionary visa of Australian nun Sister Patricia Fox, and ordered her to leave the Philippines within 30 days.
This move was due to Fox’s alleged participation in partisan politics, a violation of the terms and conditions of her visa, BI commissioner Jaime Morente said.
Morente explained that Fox’s visa only gives her the “privilege to engage in missionary works and not in political activities.”
The board composed of BI Associate Commissioners J. Tobias Javier, Aimee Torrefranca-Neri and chaired by Morente, issued Fox to leave the country within 30 days from receipt of order.
However, BI spokesperson Antonette Mangrobang said that the nun is free to enter and leave the country as a tourist.
As to Fox’s deportation case, it is still pending as she has yet to file her counter affidavit.
It is only then that the “case be submitted to the Board of Commissioners for their deliberation on whether or not she will be deported and barred from entering the country in the future.
