Lacson wants Senate to probe the non-release of SAF allowance

Senator Panfilo Lacson filed a resolution that seeks to probe the alleged unreleased daily subsistence allowance and explosive ordnance disposal hazardous pay of the Special Action Force (SAF) troopers.

In Senate Resolution 712 filed on Wednesday, Lacson directed the Senate Committee on Public Order and Dangerous Drugs to investigate the issue of SAF officials withholding allowances of its members amounting to P59.8 million.

Just recently, former and active members of SAF called for the investigation of Police Director Benjamin Lusad over plunder and malversation of public funds complaints and for the administrative offense of grave misconduct.

Lacson said if this fiasco is true, it means “members of the SAF, who are the frontliners in fighting terrorism and criminality are being demoralized.”

“We cannot allow, yet again, another injustice to be committed against our heroes in uniform who are in the forefront of our fight against the ills of terrorism and criminality, lest we risk demoralization within their ranks. Thus the need to probe into the said allegations,” he said in Senate Resolution 712.

Lacson added the need to “revisit existing laws and their implementation to make sure police officers receive the benefits due them and to punish the erring parties concerned.”
