SEOUL — South Korean President Moon Jae-in and Slovakian President Andrej Kiska agreed to enhance their countries’ bilateral ties Tuesday, also calling for efforts to expand their economic cooperation.

“I believe our two countries have great potential to develop and expand our mutual cooperation in the future,” Moon said in a bilateral summit held at his office Cheong Wa Dae in Seoul.

“I hope to discuss with you Mr. President ways to further expand our two countries’ future-oriented cooperation,” he added, according to Cheong Wa Dae pool reports.

Kiska expressed satisfaction over their cooperation, noting the people of his country consider South Korea a close friend.

“I believe there isn’t a single person in Slovakia who doesn’t know about South Korea,” he told Moon through his interpreter.

“Already, more than 100 South Korean companies are investing in Slovakia, creating thousands of jobs and offering a chance to the people of Slovakia to work at a great company,” Kiska was quoted as saying.

The Slovakian president arrived here Monday on a three-day official visit. It marks Kiska’s second trip to South Korea since the beginning of the year as he earlier visited the country for the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games and the Paralympic Games held in February and March, respectively.
