CHICAGO — America’s big three automakers all reported increased sales in March 2018 after a subdued performance in February.

General Motors said on Tuesday it delivered 296,341 vehicles in the US market in March, up 16 percent year on year. The sharp rise of sales was driven by Buick’s best March since 2004, Chevrolet’s best March since 2007 and Cadillac’s best March since 2014. It was GMC’s best March in the brand’s history, said the company.
The Italian-American Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) reported sales of 216,063 vehicles in March 2018 in the US market, a 14-percent increase compared with sales in March 2017. The FCA’s Jeep brand sales rose 45 percent in March to 98,382 vehicles for its best month ever. Its Jeep Wrangler led the group as sales jumped 70 percent to 27,829 vehicles.
As for Ford Motor Company, the overall US March sales gained 3.4 percent year on year, with sales of 244,306 vehicles. With total sales of 87,011 pickups, Ford F-Series saw its best March performance since 2000, marking 11 consecutive months of gains. Ford SUVs were up 7.3 percent last month while its sedan sales declined 8.1 percent year on year to 52,635 deliveries.
