Akbayan Youth group on Monday filed an administrative complaint against Presidential Communications Operations Office Assistant Secretary (Asec) Mocha Uson, seeking to oust her for allegedly misleading the public with fake news.

The youth group accused Uson of being guilty of grave misconduct, serious dishonesty, and conduct prejudicial to the best interest of the service.

Calling the Communications Asec “one of the biggest purveyors of disinformation in this government,” the group claimed that “the online and public persona of Uson is the source of numerous and deliberate misinformation.”

“Uson’s continuous act of making public statements heard, witnessed, watched, and accessed by Filipinos, are inconsistent with the PCOO’s functions,” Akbayan Youth added.

According to the complainant, Uson’s action affects the credibility of PCOO as the agency is supposed to “ensure transparency and full and appropriate disclosure of policies, programs, official activities, and achievements of the Office of the President and the Executive Branch which are of public concern, and to inform and communicate the same to the Filipino people.”

Meanwhile, Uson, in a video posted on her Facebook page, ‘thanked’ the youth group.

“I would like to thank the Akbayan youth for they gave me an idea on what name I should give to my future coffee shop; this is Fire Mocha Café,” Uson said, referring to the placards Akbayan carried in a demonstration, where cutouts of Uson’s head sits atop coffee mugs.
