Amid his open support on the proposed anti-dynasty bill, President Rodrigo Duterte said that he would want to see another Duterte become a mayor of Davao City, this time, his grandson.

“I am interested to see my grandson become Mayor of Davao, that will be okay. At least there will be a mayor that is Muslim,” Duterte said in an event in Sulu where he was joined by the grandson he was referring to, Omar Vincent, the eldest son of former vice mayor Paolo Duterte with his ex-wife Lovelie Sangkola Sumera, of Muslim descent.

Duterte also said that being a Muslim is not an issue because Davao is a “neutral” city and his family detests racism.

“Davao is neutral. It doesn’t matter whether you are a Muslim or Moro,” he said.

“Especially Inday, she doesn’t like bigotry. Because they know, I know that part of us belongs to the Moro people,” he added, referring to Sara Duterte-Carpio.

Moreover, Duterte said that Filipinos should not fear that he might extend his term because he is already very exhausted being the president.
