MANILA — With its induction to the Palladium Balanced Scorecard Hall of Fame for Executing Strategy on Wednesday, the Philippine Army (PA) is now globally recognized as one of the best organizations in terms of strategy execution.

This took place during the Reimagine Strategy: Palladium Positive Impact Summit 2018 in London, United Kingdom, PA spokesperson Lt. Col. Louie Villanueva said in a message Thursday.

The award was received by PA commander Lt. Gen. Rolando Joselito Bautista and conferred by Prof. Robert S. Kaplan, Emeritus Professor at the Harvard Business School and co-creator of the Balanced Scorecard.

The PA chief was accompanied by Army Governance and Strategy Management Office head, Col Joel M. Paloma.

Villanueva said the recognition was given to the PA after it had successfully passed the on-site evaluation process headed by David McMillan, Director of the Office of Strategy Management of the Palladium Group last Jan. 22 to 24.

In its quest for a genuine transformation, the PA has been implementing the Army Transformation Roadmap as its strategy since 2010.

Through the execution of this strategy, which was anchored on Kaplan and Norton’s strategy management system, and its local adaptation called the Performance Governance System (PGS), the Army has achieved milestone and recognitions.

In 2014, it reached the PGS institutionalized status, followed by being awarded with the Islands of Good Governance in 2015.

The Palladium Balanced Scorecard Hall of Fame for executing strategy publicly recognizes organizations that have successfully executed their strategies and achieved breakthrough results through the use of Kaplan and Norton’s strategy management system.

Having been inducted more than 200 organizations world-wide since its establishment in 2000, this recognizing body is regarded as the gold standard for strategic performance management.

“I would want everyone here to remember the main reason why we bade for the Palladium Balanced Scorecard Hall of Fame. More than the award is the proof that we have a functioning and world-class strategy. And we promise to continue the journey so that we will be better of service to the Filipino people as a transformed Army they can truly be proud of,” Bautista added.

Also winning the Palladium Balanced Scorecard Hall of Fame brings the PA closer to our vision of becoming a world-class Army by 2028, he added.
