Marwan’s wife, 4 others arrested in Lanao del Norte

DAVAO CITY— Police and military personnel arrested the wife of slain Jemaah Islamiyah bomber Zulkifli Abdhir alias ‘Marwan’ and four others in a joint operation at Purok 5 Poblacion, Tubod, Lanao del Norte around 6:22 a.m. Sunday.

Supt. Lemuel Gonda, the spokesperson of Police Regional Office-10, said PNP PRO-10, Regional Intelligence Division, Regional Force Mobile Battalion-Lanao del Norte Police Provincial Office, Regional Anti-Cybercrime Office 10, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group 10, National Intelligence Coordinating Agency 10, 4th Military Intelligence Battalion and 5th Mechanized Infantry Battalion conducted law enforcement operation by virtue of search warrant nos. SW-99-2018 and 100-2018 for illegal possession of firearms and illegal possession of explosives against Juromee Pindoy Dongon alias Tata/Saynab or Alias Zainab Janjalani.

Also arrested in the operation were the suspect’s sister Lorilie Dongon Atta and her husband SPO4 Andy Ascali Atta.

Confiscated from their possession were one fragmentation grenade, six blasting caps, one blasting cap assembly, one piece electric detonating cord color yellow, one 7-inch non- electric detonating cord, plastic container, sling bag color violet, 9mm Glock 17 Gen 4, PNP issued pistol with SN: PNP 49607, three pieces of magazine for Glock 17 Gen 4, 37 live ammunitions for 9mm caliber and one black sling bag.

Earlier on Sunday, Dongon’s parents were also arrested in a joint PNP and AFP operation conducted around 5:10 a.m. at Sitio Tinago Barangay San Juan, Baroy, Lanao del Norte.

Gonda identified them as Romeo Aborido Dongon alias Faisaland Norein Dongon Santos.

Confiscated from their possession were one unit .45 caliber pistol colt Mk1V with SN 527477, magazine for cal.45, three pieces cartridge, one fragmentation grenade M61, empty blasting cap, one yellow detonating cord, two electrical wire, handbag, one unit Lenovo laptop with charger, four mobile phones, one Samsung tablet and handbag for laptop.

The operation was conducted by PRO 10- Regional Intelligence Division, Regional and Provincial Force Mobile Battalion and company- Lanao del Norte Police provincial office, Baroy Municipal police station, CIDG 10 Misamis Oriental, PNP SAF-1st Special Action Company-12th Special Action Company, Regional Intelligence Unit 10, NICA 10, Highway patrol group, 4th Military Intelligence Battalion and 5th Mechanized IB.

The law enforcement operation was conducted by virtue of warrant of arrest nos. SW-97-2018 and 98-2018 for RA 10591 (illegal possession of firearms) and RA 9516 (illegal possession of explosives).

All the confiscated items were brought to CIDG 10 for booking and documentation.

Meanwhile, criminal charges for violation of RA 10591 and RA 9516 are being prepared for inquest proceedings.
