Pogoy named PBA Player of the Week
MANILA — Roger Pogoy’s stellar performances the past week made him the PBA Press Corps Player of the Week, providing the firepower for the KaTropa that won back-to-back games.
Pogoy was relegated to the bench for the past two games of TNT in the PBA Philippine Cup, but had two of his best games so far in his young career.
Pogoy went 10-for-14 from the field on Wednesday against Blackwater for 24 points as he led TNT to a comeback win.
Then on Sunday, Pogoy continued his solid showing with 15 points, four rebounds, and two steals as he helped the KaTropa whip the Meralco Bolts.
Four TNT players were nominated for the said citation as Troy Rosario, Jayson Castro, and RR Garcia also made the shortlist.
Also considered for the award were Kia’s Rashawn McCarthy and Glenn Khobuntin, Magnolia’s Rafi Reavis, Alaska’s Vic Manuel and Sonny Thoss, San Miguel’s Arwind Santos and Junemar Fajardo; and GlobalPort’s Sean Anthony.
