MANILA — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has provided medical assistance to 334 devotees who are taking part in the annual procession of the Black Nazarene.

Data from the MMDA show that 238 hypertension cases, 82 suffering from various ailments, 10 injured, and four pregnant women are treated by personnel from the MMDA Road Emergency Group from January 7 to January 9 this morning.

The Road Emergency Group has installed tents at the Quirino Grandstand to provide medical assistance for the devotees who participated in the ‘Pahalik’ and ‘Traslacion’ of the image of the Black Nazarene.

The MMDA is also helping the Manila Police District  in ensuring crowd control during the procession. The Sidewalk Clearing Operations Group and Metro Parkway Clearing Group will be cleaning up the debris left behind after the procession.

The agency has deployed  around 1,300 personnel since January 5 for this year’s Feast of the Black Nazarene.

It will assist the Manila City local government unit in ensuring crowd control, providing first aid measures and clearing operations of the routes where the Black Nazarene will pass through. (PNA)
