Corruption in local gov’t Duterte’s next target

Published

on

Investigations hunting corrupt officials are not only directed to the appointees of President Rodrigo Duterte but encompasses all those who are seated in the government, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said.

Roque said that in line with Duterte’s aim to rid the current administration of crooked officials, he is now targeting those in the local government unit.

“The president stated that he will continue the process of cleansing the bureaucracy and that he will turn more of his attention to local government units including the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao,” Roque said.

The president has already kicked out several top officials last year, and just recently, the first for this year was the ousting Maritime Industry Authority Administrator Marcial Amaro III.
