Duterte fires Marina chief over excessive foreign trips
MANILA — Macalanang announced on Thursday that President Rodrigo Duterte had removed Maritime Industry Authority (Marina) administrator Marcial Quirico Amaro III from his post due to excessive foreign trips.
In a press conference held in Davao City, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque ended days of speculation by naming Amaro as the next government official to be sacked from his post.
Roque said that based on the list of travels provided by the Department of Transportation (DoTr), Amaro had made 24 foreign travels in a span of 13 months.
“That’s an average of two foreign trips per month,” he said. (PNA)
