War over South China sea, not an option
As Philippines and China work to resolve tension in the disputed South China Sea, President Rodrigo Duterte and Chinese President Xi Jinping on Sunday have agreed that going to war is not an option.
The two believed that war is useless and would only waste the lives of the people of both countries.
Duterte said, “We agreed, he agrees. He said, ‘If you are President Duterte and you want to preserve the lives of Filipinos, then as President of China, I want to save lives.
I don’t waste the lives of my countrymen for a useless war that cannot be won by anybody.
”
Leaving the South China Sea alone is what Duterte recommended to all claimants, saying, “The South China Sea is better left untouched, nobody can afford to go to war.”
