McGovern tweeted, “@realDonaldTrump disgraces America when he cozies up to dictators like #Duterte who attack #FreePress and slaughter their own people. Shameful.”

The Massachusetts representative was responding to a tweet by an American journalist that read, “Trump allowed Duterte to shut down US reporters’ questions about human rights. Duterte told reporters they weren’t at a news conference.

Question wasn’t answered.”

Duterte on Monday was tight-lipped when asked by the media if he and Trump would discuss the issue of human rights in their bilateral meeting.

It can be recalled that last week, Duterte threatened to ban McGovern and Republican Representative Randy from flying to Manila after they slammed Trump for inviting Duterte to visit the US.
