Senator Grace Poe highly supports the decision of the Department of Transportation (DoTR) to file charges against Joseph Emilio Abaya, former Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) secretary and officials from the Aquino administration for allegedly engaging in anomalous transactions with Metro Railway Transit 3 (MRT-3) maintenance provider Busan Universal Rail Inc. (BURI).

According to Poe “It is high time that the ax falls where it should. The complaint filed against former Sec.

81-billion MRT maintenance contract rests on solid grounds.”

On Monday, DoTR filed charges accusing DOTC officials of violating Republic Act 3019 or the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act over its contract with BURI.

Poe said that the investigation her committee conducted last May has “indubitably proved that the award to BURI was anomalous.

“They should really be made to answer for their negligence and mistakes and for fooling the people that their burden will be reduced by getting a new maintenance provider. This is an anomaly that if continued, will waste the money of the Filipino people and will endanger the lives of the MRT commuters.
