Fatal three car crash closes Trans Canada Highway near Revelstoke, B.C.

One woman is dead and several other people are seriously injured after a three-vehicle crash west of Revelstoke, B.C.

RCMP say the vehicles were sent in different directions after a head-on collision on the Trans Canada Highway on Thursday afternoon.

Police say a woman trapped in one of the vehicles was dead when crews arrived and a dog found at the scene had also died.

Two men were taken to hospital in critical condition while the occupants of the third vehicle had minor or no injuries.

Police, fire crews, the coroner’s service and Transportation Ministry were investigating the crash, which was expected to close down the highway into the evening.

The cause of the crash was unknown but police are warning drivers to check conditions before travelling through mountain areas in the winter and be prepared for the weather.
