After days of calling for witnesses in the death of the law student Horacio “Atio” Castillo III, who was allegedly killed in fraternity hazing rites to come out, Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II said on Friday that there are already two witnesses who reached out to the Department of Justice.

Aguirre said that one of them is a member of the Aegis Juris fraternity and the other is a fellow student of Castillo at UST.

With very minimal details, Aguirre bared that the Aegis Juris member phoned DOJ and said that he has knowledge of the initiation rites made on Castillo and the other neophytes in the fraternity.

While the other witness showed up at DOJ.

Moreover, DOJ has urged all witnesses to come out and promised them protection.

“If they want to tell the truth or clear their names they can come to my office and we will place them under the Witness Protection Program (WPP). They can trust us, they have nothing to fear from us,” Aguirre said in a statement.
