President Rodrigo Duterte’s cabinet had its seventh official to quit from post, as Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Secretary Rodolfo Salalima offered to resign, Malacañang confirmed on Thursday.

Salalima has been serving the Duterte administration for one year and two months.

Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella said in a statement that Salalima has tendered his letter of resignation to the president, citing both personal and work-related reasons.

Meanwhile, the president bared that Salalima’s resignation was due to conflict of interest, explaining that, “He used to work for a telecom company.

He was the VP…I would not say that he’s guilty. It’s out of delicadeza.”

While Duterte said that he wants to know first the exact reason behind Salalima’s resignation before taking action, the president is open to the possibility of appointing a new DICT secretary.
