39 countries express concern on PH drug war

In the middle of the drug war founded by the Duterte administration, thirty-nine member-states of the United Nations could not just observe in silence as they once again expressed serious concerns brought by the rising number of the alleged extrajudicial killings and human rights violations, citing the need to end and investigate into these transgressions.

In a joint statement issued by Iceland on behalf of the other thirty-eight countries, it said that the Philippine government should protect human rights defenders and allow Agnes Callamard, the UN special rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions, to observe without conditions or limitations.

Furthermore, these are the countries who signed the joint statement: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, The Netherlands, UK, Ukraine, and United States.
