Faeldon threatens to expose Congress
Bureau of Customs (BOC) Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon on Wednesday threatened to expose some members of the House of Representatives if they continue to influence corruption in the BOC.
Although no members of Congress were named, Faeldon gave a stark warning to the representatives as well as other politicians.
The Commissioner targeted politicians who lobby for individuals to acquire positions in the BOC. According to him, this kind of practice is tantamount to corruption and won’t be tolerated.
In a separate interview, Faeldon said that politicians who commit such practices should be ashamed and stop acting like they own the BOC by requesting unwarranted promotions within the agency.
It can be remembered that Faeldon’s chief of staff Mandy Therese Anderson who was recently under fire for calling House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez an “imbecile” accused the latter of pushing for the promotion of an “unqualified” Customs officer, a claim Alvarez denied at first but later admitted to.
However, Alvarez denied that it was lobbying and said that his involvement in the issue is only a diversionary tactic to remove the spotlight from the BOC that is under House inquiry that investigates how a P6.
4 million worth of shabu passed the agency, an investigation Faeldon said he welcomes.
