CLARK, Pampanga — Myanmar State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and Cambodia’s Prime Minister Hun Sen are expected to arrive at the Clark International Airport in Pampanga on Saturday for the 31st Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit, which will be held on November 10-14 in Manila.

With the arrival of the two foreign leaders, the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) from Clark to Metro Manila will be on “lockdown” at intervals while the leaders’ convoys pass through the expressway.

The Clark International Airport is over 100 kilometers away from the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City, the venue for the majority of the meetings.

Most of the 20 heads of state will arrive at the Pampanga airport over the weekend, while only seven foreign leaders will land at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on Sunday.

Suu Kyi and Hun Sen, along with other ASEAN leaders, will have an interface with the ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN BAC) while the ASEAN Plus Three (APT) Leaders will have an interface with the East Asia Business Council.

The ASEAN Leaders, along with the leaders of Australia, China, India, Japan, the Republic of Korea and New Zealand, will have Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) Leaders’ Summit.

Suu Kyi and Hun Sen will be attending the 9th Mekong-Japan Summit on the sidelines of the 31st ASEAN Summit together with leaders from the Mekong countries of Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam.
