Wishing to etch the culture and the ‘Filipino version’ to perhaps anything that has touched the lives of Filipinos is something that has been done numerous times especially when it comes to foreign dramas. Another hit drama is joining the list and fans’ reactions are?

GMA Network signed a co-production deal with JU Entertainment Movie and Drama Inc. on November 9 – to produce a Filipino version of a title known to heart – “Boys Over Flowers.”

That’s right, the Flower 4 (F4) is back – in a local setting.

This will not be the first time that “Boys Over Flowers” will have a different adaptation. What started as a Japanese manga series entitled “Hana Yori Dango” in 1992  was adapted to an anime in 1996 and to live action versions in Japan (Hana Yori Dango), Taiwan (Meteor Garden), and Korea (Boys Over Flowers).

Interestingly, the anime and all three live action versions aired in the Philippine television screens. Clearly, the story of Tsukushi Makino, Shancai, or Geum Jan-di – whichever version one chooses, is something that is familiar throughout the years.

While no details are bared on who will play the role of F4 and the female protagonist, people are already talking. The Twitterverse has all kinds of reactions and here are some of them.

User Vhanessa @jenesbrozo said “Hindi nakakatawa na malaman na magkakaroon ng Pinoy version ang Boys Over Flowers (It is not funny to know that Boys Over Flowers will have a Pinoy version). I feel so broken!”

JINI. @ideshiiee tweeted “Another upcoming disappointment.”

While some were in down spirits, some are just nervous.

Kelly @akellydelacruz22h22 tweeted “Pinoy version of Boys Over Flowers? Oh please don’t ruin the painting.

Some seem to not know how to react yet.

Just like Jett @jettyyyyyyyy who tweeted, “Pinoy version of Boys over Flowers? Hmmm…”

Some are hopeful as well.

“Pinoy Boys Over Flowers Remake. Ah It’s good news though but uh… nevermind, I’ll just wait for the Dyland Wang as Dao Ming Si thingy. So excited omg,” hhr2; @hnnhrthsrn tweeted.

Others are dropping different GMA stars’ names as guesses on who will fill the notable roles.

So will the Pinoy version of Boys Over Flowers get a red card from its fans? Who will play So Yi-jung, Song Woo-bin, and Yoon Ji-hoo? And of course, Gu Jun-pyo and Jan-di? And will these characters be baptized with their own ‘Filipino names’ as well? No one knows yet until the show starts airing, but one thing is for sure. And that is the fact that the production will start soon.
