A Filipina considered as a “person of interest” in the Las Vegas strip shooting on Monday that killed at least 60 people, has been cleared by Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD).

On Sunday, the Las Vegas police said they have found the woman who is a “person of interest” in the mass shooting in a concert in Las Vegas.

“We have located the vehicles in question, and we are confident we have located the female person of interest,” the LVMPD said on its official Twitter account.

Marilou Danley, the woman whose name was dragged in the shooting incident, initially described as of “Asian descent”, was later found to be a Filipina.

In an interview with Unang Balita on Tuesday, Vice Consul in Las Vegas Dyan Pastrana said that Danley is not involved in the mass shooting incident.

Na-clear na po siya ng Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, kasi out of the country po nu’ng nangyari ‘yung insidente, so…wala po siyang kinalaman. Na-clear na po siya [She was cleared by Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, because she went out of the country when the incident happened, so… she was not involved. She has been cleared],” Pastrana added.

Pastrana added that Danley, born in the Philippines, is an Australian citizen who moved to the United States 20 years ago. According to reports, the 62-year-old Filipina was a “high-limit hostess” at a casino.

The police initially said that Danley is a ‘companion’ of the shooter but wasn’t tagged as a suspect.

The gunman identified by the police as a 64-year-old local resident named Stephen Paddock, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The police found his body on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay, a hotel-casino next to the concert venue.

Reports said that Danley and Paddock had been sharing the same address since January 2017, as they were roommates in Mesquite, Nevada.

In a press release of LVMPD, Sheriff Joe Lombardo said that the department is working to process the crime scene across from the Mandalay Bay Hotel and investigate the motives of the gunman.

Meanwhile, the Philippine consulate is keeping its eye on the situation and will be ready to aid Filipinos who may have been injured in the mass shooting.
