NEW YORK — The oldest hall at the American Museum of Natural History is getting an update.

The museum announced Monday that the Hall of Northwest Coast Indians, which opened in 1899 and hasn’t been significantly changed in decades, will undergo a $14.5 million renovation.

The renovation will include input from several native communities of that region including the Haida (HY’-dah) and the Tlingit (KLINK’-uht), and is scheduled to be completed in a few years to coincide with the celebration of the museum’s 150th anniversary.
