MANILA — The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Monday directed all its units to secure the riding public and members of the transport sector who opted not to join the group opposing the public utility vehicle modernization program and phaseout of dilapidated jeepneys.

“Effect arrest to those who will threaten non-strikers. Likewise, coordinate with ur LGUs for the libreng sakay,” NCRPO chief Director Oscar Albayalde said.

Also, he ordered all of his five District Commanders to deploy police officers in the streets and terminals to ensure that no untoward incidents will take place.

The NCRPO consists of the Northern, Eastern, Southern, Quezon City, and Manila Police Districts that are tasked to secure the metropolis from lawless elements.

Albayalde also ordered the five district commanders to maintain close coordination with the Land Transportation Franchising Regulatory Board for any issues that need to be immediately addressed. (PNA)
