“I’ve always wanted to be a father first but maraming komplikasyon, maraming misunderstandings but I’ve always wanted to be a father first.”

That’s what Actor Paulo Avelino said during his interview at “Tonight with Boy Abunda”.

As he faces himself in front of a mirror, the actor was asked by Boy Abunda, the host of the show, which among the real-life roles he plays comes first.

“The man in the mirror, he’s a father, he’s an actor, he’s a boyfriend. Who is he first?” asked Abunda.

Avelino held back his tears as he answered the first question saying that he always wanted to be a father but there are a lot of complications and misunderstandings.

The actor has a seven-year-old son with actress LJ Reyes.

The actress is now in relationship with Paolo Contis, while Avelino is currently with his Filipino-Australian girlfriend Jodie Elizabeth Tarasek. Reyes is raising Aki, Avelino’s son, along with Contis.

When asked in an interview with ABS-CBN earlier this September if he was jealous of Conti’s close relationship with Aki, Avelino answered: “Di naman. May tamang oras naman na makasama ko ang anak ko; kumbaga di ko rin masabi kung anong nangyayari sa side nila [Not really. There’s a right time when I can be with my son; I can’t say what’s going on on their side (LJ and Paolo)].”

Meanwhile, during the segment, Abunda asked Avelino his second question: “Anong isang ugali, ni Pao, na gusto mong panatilihin [What is that one trait of Pao that you want to maintain]?”

The actor answered, “It’s my passion for what I’m doing and at the same time my genuine passion and care for the people I love.”

When asked what trait he wants to change, Avelino simply said “inconsistencies.”

During the question and answer, Avelino also stressed that he is not getting married anytime soon with his current girlfriend, however, he answered that “she could be the one”.

The actor appeared as a guest on “Tonight with Boy Abunda” Monday night to promote his new Philippine romantic fantasy drama series “The Promise of Forever.” The show also stars Ejay Falcon and Ritz Azul, which airs from Monday to Friday.
