Davao to host 1st reg’l coaches’ forum

DAVAO CITY— Davao City will host the first Regional State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA) Coaches’ Forum on September 1 and 2 at the Ritz Hotel @ Garden Oasis in Bo. Obrero.

SCUAA has invited Philippine Olympian Association member Akiko Thompson, Ateneo de Davao University Athletic Director Noli Ayo and Davao del Norte Sports Science Officer Kris Mishael Junasa as speakers in the forum.

The topics are Coaching Philosophy and Sports Management. Coaching Philosophy will tackle on Developing Coaching Objectives, Coaching Style and In Pursuit of Excellence in Sports.

Sports Management, on the other hand, will have topics on Sports-Related Injuries, Prevention, First-Aid, Rehabilitation and Strength and Conditioning. Registration fee is P2,400 inclusive of the meals and materials.

“This is in preparation also for our incoming Regional SCUAA Games set on October 26-29 in Tagum City,” said PASUC regional sports coordinator Dr. Jose Alther Rivera.

The Regional SCUAA Games will be hosted by the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC) Region XI headed by its chair Dr. Irvin Generalao.

“We are inviting the coaches and sports officials from all the different schools, colleges and universities,” said Rivera, also sports director of the University of Southeastern Philippines. Expected to join are from USEP, Davao del Norte State College (DNSC), University of the Philippines (UP) Mindanao, Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine Aquatic School of Technology (SPABMAST), Davao Oriental State College of Science and Technology (DOSCST) and Compostela Valley State College (CVSC).
