More couples practice family planning

ZAMBOANGA CITY — The City Health Office announced that more couples are now becoming conscious on the benefits of raising a well-planned family.
This, as the City Health Office recorded that the number of couples who practiced family planning have increased to 52,878 in 2016 from 50,616 in 2015.
The figure for the first semester this year already surpassed that of last year.
From January to June this year, the CHO recorded 55,368 couples who have practiced family planning.
Ma. Rosalie Mendoza, City Health Office’ Family Planning Program coordinator, on Friday said that among the couples, mostly the wives are the ones who are using family planning methods.
Mendoza said that pills remained as the most being used among the contraceptives for family planning. It is followed by Depo Provera and the Intra-Uterine Device (IUD).
Aside from the three, the other methods of family planning are: use of condom; Lactation Amenorrhea; tubal ligation; and, vasectomy.
Mendoza said that of the 17 health districts, most of those practicing family planning are residents of Guiwan district. It is followed by Curuan, Ayala and Labuan districts.
Couples practicing family planning managed to provide good education to their children and well as enjoy financial stability.
Mendoza said the continued information dissemination down to the barangay level on its benefits has encouraged more couples to practice family planing.
She said they also conduct counseling sessions to those interested in practicing family planning.
