CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, Aug. 10— The Department of Agriculture (DA) in Region III, in partnership with the provincial government of Pampanga, on Thursday distributed farm machineries to 116 farmers associations in districts 1 and 3 of the province.

Evelyn C. Fernando, DA-III agricultural provincial coordinating officer, together with provincial agriculturist Edilberto Salenga and Vice Governor Dennis Pineda, led the distribution of 17 hand tractors with trailers; six rice transplanters; five units of rice reapers and 90 shallow tube wells for irrigation held at the Provincial Engineers’ Office compound in Barangay Sindalan here.

Fernando said the farm equipment were given by the DA upon the requests by various farmers’ associations.

She assured that the department will give more equipment in the coming years as a way to help and support the province’s agricultural sector.

“The distribution of farm machineries does not end here because there are more agricultural equipment to be provided in the coming years. Anyway, the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist is our partner in the implementation of agricultural projects in Pampanga,” she said.

Meanwhile, Salenga said the distribution of the farm implements is part of the farm mechanization program of the DA that aims to advance the rice and corn production in the province.

Vice Governor Pineda, for his part, thanked the DA for its unrelenting support to the farmers in the province.
