CEBU CITY, Aug.11— Two jail guards from the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) met with Governor Hilario Davide III on Friday morning at the Capitol to report their knowledge of illegal activities in the provincial jail.

The two jail guards gave Davide a list of seven to eight people involved in illegal activities at CPDRC after the governor also received two letters via courier on Thursday.

“If they know something, they shouldn’t be scared or even hesitate to approach me,” said Davide. “I won’t say more regarding the situation you will just see what I will do.”

Operation Greyhound conducted at CPDRC last August 1 yielded more than PHP200,000 worth of illegal drugs, drug-sniffing paraphernalia, bladed weapons, cash and betting items plus 27 cellular phones.

Following the jail raid, Davide suspended the PHP10,000 anniversary bonus for the CPDRC jail employees because he was unsatisfied with the performance of the jail guards.

Davide encouraged the jail employees to report to his office any information on illegal activities and transactions at the CPDRC giving them until 5:00 p.m. Friday.

The governor assured that all the information will be treated with strict confidentiality.
