Lacson slams Trillanes for calling colleagues ‘lapdogs’
MANILA — Sen. Panfilo Lacson on Monday slammed colleague Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV after the latter made a remark about some senators being “lapdogs” of Pres. Rodrigo Duterte.
In a Kapihan press conference in the Manila Hotel, Trillanes said that he found it disappointing how the Senate acted like lapdogs instead of being the last bastion of democracy.
He said that some senators who supported the President were only following his orders because they were afraid of him.
Trillanes, former Navy officer, has been tagged as Pres. Duterte’s fiercest critic.
Lacson, former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, disagreed with his colleague.
“Calling his Senate colleagues ‘cowards’ and ‘puppets’ wholesale is the darnest thing a senator can do,” Lacson said on his official Twitter account.
Lacson also said that he thought Trillanes was “out of touch with reality.”
