MANILA — Ominta Maute alias “Farhana”, the matriarch of the Maute brothers, is now in the custody of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP).

This was confirmed on Thursday by BJMP Director Serafin Barretto.

The BJMP is an attached agency of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

Barretto said the Maute matriarch is already in their custody on 1 a.m. of June 13, 2017.

The Maute matriarch was arrested by authorities in Masiu, Lanao del Sur last week.

During the military tactical interrogation, Farhana allegedly admitted that she was in Masiu, Lanao del Sur because she herself buried the cadavers of her two sons, Omar and Abdullah.

The Maute brothers are the founding leaders of the Maute terror group.

However, the information provided by Farhana is still being verified by the military intelligence.

Earlier, Cayamora Maute, the father of the Maute brothers, was also arrested in a checkpoint in Toril, Davao City on June 6, 2017.

Cayamora was transferred from Davao City to Manila on June 8, 2017 and placed under the custody of the BJMP at its Detention Center in Camp Bagong Diwa, Bicutan, Taguig City.
