About Philippine Heritage Council of Manitoba, Inc.

The Philippine Heritage Week was initiated by the Philippine Consulate in 1981. In 1985, the Philippine Consulate was closed down and its functions were assumed by an appointed Honorary Consul who kept the Philippine Heritage celebration alive and vibrant by creating yearly a Philippine Heritage Week Adhoc Committee composed of members representing the different organizations in the community.

In 2003, the Committee was constituted as a formal body that will allow other projects to be conducted during the year, in addition to sponsoring the annual Philippine Heritage Week. The organization is now known as Philippine Heritage Council of Manitoba (PHCM) Inc. which is composed of individuals and representatives from different Filipino-Canadian organizations and associations.
