Davao ace Mangosong virtual champ in Diamond Motor Corp. “Supercross”
TAYTAY–Bornok Mangosong riding without a rubber grip on the right hand of his bike just after the first lap, maintained his mental toughness and solid concentration,on Saturday captured the fourth leg of the premiere Pro-Open Production of the Diamond Motor Corp.
Supercross held at the MX Messsiah Fairgrounds here. The back-to-back triumphs of Mangosong, pride of Davao, already a runaway titlist in the second edition of this classic race presented by Generation Congregation and sponsored by Diamond Motor Corporation.
He posted 94 points after four legs of this five-leg epic race.
“In the practice round, I made a mistake over scrubbing the step-up, jumps because I want to set a record in the time trial,’Mangosong said, representing Yamaha Team.
“But when they cleaned my back, the right hand grip of back (throttle) got wet, and we didn’t noticed it,” said Mangosong who held his ground until he crossed the finish line.
The 25-year old Davao ace rider, who took the holeshot,despite losing the rubber grip pushed it hard gaining his momentum and earned a comfortable lead in the early going.
But JC Rellosa,25 of Iriga (Bicol), who started “dead last” at the start, worked slowly to stay in contention.
Rellosa is in second overall with 82 points while Jerick Mitra of 87 Racing collected 75 points.
It was Rellosa of Romenz Fans Bike who applied pressure on Mangosong in the classic battle for the lead. Rellosa made countless attacks but Mangosong kept his focus and line for his dramatic fourth leg victory, after injuring his right leg during the time trial.
Rounding the Top Ten of the race supported also by Coffee Grounds Taytay, Go PRO Philippines,Dunlop Tires, PTT Philippines, Yamaha Philippines, DC Philippines and Xtreme Adrenaline are Terence Napat (4th), Jovie Saulog (5th), Ralp Ramento (6th), Christian Yap (7th) and Christian Ramento.
Meanwhile, David Viterbo ruled the Amatuer Class Main category defeating actor-rider Jordan Herrera and Christian Yap,who settled second and third spot, respectively.
Viterbo,13, of Taytay and member MX Messsiah Fairgrounds Team,also captured the Kids 85 cc and below class beating Rhon (Mangosong) and Benedict Riane Morales, who settled for second and third place, respectively.
